We have adventure play areas on both the infant and junior playgrounds and special equipment has been purchased to make playtimes more enjoyable. Both Junior and Infant playgrounds now boast shelters with seating for sunny days. Additionally, we now have an outdoor stage with seating. We offer a range of extra-curricular clubs and activities at different times of the year, including Thursday club, netball, choir, gardening and guitar tuition.  Pupils are encouraged to participate.  Throughout the year the pupils are offered a variety of intensive training programmes for sports  such as athletics, street dancing, ballroom dancing, hockey, cricket and netball where qualified coaches come to the school to run the courses.

We also encourage children's out of school interests and hobbies by recognising achievement and allowing children to share their success through assemblies. The music groups perform in front of parents and other pupils, in assemblies and concerts. The choir, has made visits to local residential homes and has also performed in concerts at the Symphony Hall.

Year 4 pupils take part in a project called 'Growing Gains' which involves the care and cultivation of a vegetable plot in the school grounds. When harvested, the produce is used to make soup. All pupils take turns in helping to prepare the vegetables and stirring the soup. This year group is also involved with the 'Adopt a Chef' scheme which provided a top local chef who led a 'Taste and Sensory' workshop before returning to help the pupils make their own pizzas. Everyone enjoyed the two sessions and lots of children subsequently made their own pizzas at home.

Every year we organize a trip for the children to visit the Old Rep Theatre to see a professional production. We hold discos for both Junior and Infant pupils twice a year, a sports day and all pupils have either a Christmas disco, or a party. The Nursery too, have their own sports morning, carnival and Christmas party.

The school continues to support 'Farms For City Children' and a group of pupils, accompanied by members of staff, attend a residential at Treginnis Farm, in Pembrokeshire, every other year.
