At Short Heath we work closely not only with our own Reception staff in Short Heath but also with Reception staff in other schools. We minimise the anxiety that change can cause children at this time by talking and role playing the situations through, reading stories and playing games about moving up as well as making visits to and receiving visitors from schools.


Children going up to Short Heath School will become familiar with the Reception staff, classrooms and organisations as well as be introduced to assembly time, PE in the school hall, music with Mrs Allen the peripatetic pianist and Mr Jones and his guitar on a regular basis through the year.


Any concerns that might arise are discussed with parents/carers, teachers and children so that as many hitches as possible can be sorted out before hand.
