Patterns by the Nursery childrenAs well as the opportunities for sharing in your child’s learning already described, we offer a series of fun and informal parent/carer workshops through the year. Here you are invited to come into Nursery and find out more about how your child is learning in different areas of the curriculum. The emphasis is on practical activities that you can use at home as part of your normal routine e.g. games to play, opportunities to develop ideas through talk, singing, making items together. Parents/carers are encouraged to share with others what they do so that everyone contributes and comes away with something new to try.

As the children settle into Nursery we introduce a book loan scheme where your child can choose a book from Nursery and take it home, return it and select a new one. Many children really value this activity as it has many spin offs e.g. valuing books and sharing books together, a physical link between home and Nursery as well as having a special book like an older sibling in ‘Big School’.

Through the year we hold parties, outings, sports days and concerts to which you are warmly invited. These are often highlights in a busy, fun filled, year when the children develop rapidly and prepare for life in ‘Big School’. We enjoy getting to know your child and his/her family and hope that you will feel welcome and able to join in as much as you can.

Should you wish to help out in Nursery on a regular or one off basis please do speak to a member of staff about the opportunities on offer – from washing up to painting a mural!  We are grateful for any help from parents/carers who have jobs/skills that can enrich the curriculum for the children eg gardeners, cooks, musicians, artistic skills, jobs in professions such as police, dentists, nurses, etc. Please do not hide your light under a bushel!
